'I chose my field because of my own personal experiences visiting the optometrist as a teenager. I had trouble in school until my eye doctor turned that around. With my new glasses, I could see everything, and my grades immediately skyrocketed. When I graduated to contacts, my optometrist changed my life. He was always helping me make my life easier and my vision clearer.
'I found optometry compelling because you could so quickly change someone’s life for the better. Young people come to us because they cannot see clearly enough to read their books or class materials. Teenagers and adults may fail a vision test trying to get their driver's license. Middle-aged adults come in because they are frustrated that their reading material is all a blur. We have solutions for all those things.
'Optometry is a challenging and rewarding career. I really enjoy the relationships I have made with my patients. I have seen kids grow up and I have watched families grow. I continually offer the best care to them and their friends year after year. Since I enjoy what I do, my style of patient care is friendly, compassionate, thorough and very much focused on the patients' individual needs.
'I hold myself to a high standard of care. My patients are important to me and I want them to feel that way. In every exam, we thoroughly test the need for prescription glasses, glaucoma, internal ocular health, surface ocular health, peripheral vision and binocular vision. We deliver quality care that makes a difference in your day-to-day life. Because without clear vision and healthy eyes, getting passing grades in school is nearly impossible, reading a medicine bottle incorrectly could have dangerous side effects and driving a car could be downright deadly. My goal is to spare people from those situations and improve their quality of life.'
